More Half Marathon

More-tastic!

Through all the girlish chit chat and nervous laughter of 4,788 women from all over the country and world, the Hellgate women prepared to tackle their home turf in the 4th Annual More Marathon & Half Marathon. It was evident many in the field were blissfully unaware of the challenge that lay before them: not one, but two full loops of the undulating Central Park.

It was to be a morning of personal bests, firsts, and struggles. And there was a huge Hellgate cheering squad present to help the girls push up that west side and finish strong! Eamonn, Alan, Janine, & Tony ran against the race cheering us around the course. Of course we also had Coach Jared, Richie, Tony (Suzanne’s), Juan, Kevin, Levi, and Yvonne with baby, Mom, & Step-Dad!

Juan and Kevin can be proud of their wife and mom, Lubia, who completed her first ever half marathon! She did spectacular! Suzanne started off Hellgate with her own personal course record, while Cassie and Jessica worked together to both finish with PR’s. Martha made it down from The Bronx to remind us that Van Cortlandt Park readies you for those hills. Irene had a great showing as well! Nazly and Olga worked together as well, but Nazly pulled ahead when Olga needed to battle through the course and her asthma. Kudos to Olga for staying tough, listening to her body, and adjusting!

This was the toughest race I've run due to asthma. Thank you so much for cheering me on.
